Agroforestry

Chelan, WA

Agro-forestry is the intentional integration of agricultural practices with the qualities of a forest to create environmental, economic, and social benefits. On our 20-acre property in Chelan, we seek to grow an Agro-forest that focuses on the use of local native plants. We hope this effort teaches more about the hidden benefits of the crops that sustained our Indigenous populations as a way to help better adapt our societies in an uncertain future.

Although in its early stages, our end goal is to create a working Agro-forest system that uses minimal input to create nutritious and diverse food options while helping to store carbon, promote bio-diversity, and create soft space for the public to spend time in. Creating a place where people can see first-hand the magic that comes from working alongside nature.

Progress thus far

Let's work together

Modern Agro-forestry is still in its early stages in the world. If you'd like to contribute in the growing understanding of the practice check out our internship opportunities before. Even if you're not a student but would like to develop your skills and understanding, email us and join! As we are still a small volunteer-run nonprofit, our internship positions and staff positions are unpaid. For now.
